GrassHoppa
DJ / Producer
From dusty crates to digital airwaves, Grasshoppa has been cultivating the sound of drum and bass for over two decades — not just as a DJ, but as a true steward of the culture. Based in the deep redwoods of Northern California, he brings a style that’s both reverent of the roots and fearlessly forward, blending jungle’s rawness with soul, sub-bass, and pure fire on the decks.
A foundational figure in the U.S. scene, Grasshoppa is a long-time member of M.I.A. (Murder in America), the Chicago-born DnB collective that’s pushed heavy underground sounds since 2006. Out west, he co-founded Bass Harvest Productions, planting deep bass culture in NorCal through events like Bass Harvest and Big Bass Theory, hosting legends and elevating emerging sounds across Humboldt and beyond.
He’s no stranger to the stage — from warehouses and forest raves to club nights and festival takeovers, Grasshoppa has rocked the decks alongside an endless list of selectors and sound champions, always with a fierce focus on flow, selection, and connection. Now broadcasting on Drum and Bass Proper, Grasshoppa hosts the weekly livestream “Wake and Bake” — a Sunday ritual where rolling breaks, amen edits, and dub wise heaters blend with early morning energy. Airing every Sunday at 10 a.m. PST, it’s a celebration of the roots, the future, and the global jungle family.
This isn’t just performance — it’s preservation, celebration, and transmission. Grasshoppa doesn’t just play the music — he lives it.
